The groom lifts and places the bride’s feet on a grinding stone namely “Ammi” which signifies breaking of ties with her old family.

After the wedding a feast is also provided by the bride’s family. After the feast, at any auspicious time bride, groom, and his family leave for their home. Then the bride enters a new life. Most communities even provide a reception after marriage.
